Is the gold really gold?
Yes. Every kings set contains real 23 karat gold, sealed in a glass vial, along with authentic frankincense and Arabian myrrh sourced from the same regions as the gifts carried to Bethlehem. They are not represented or simulated. They are the actual substances.
What are the figures made of?
Hand-painted resin. Every face is painted individually, so no two figures are exactly alike.
What sizes are available?
The Real Life Nativity comes in 5, 7, 10, and 14-inch scales. In the 14-inch set, Balthazar stands 14 inches, Melchior 12.5, Caspar 10, and the star reaches 17.25 inches. In the 14-inch Holy Family, Joseph stands 12 inches, and Mary kneels at 7. Sizes refer to the tallest figure in each set, so compare the individual heights listed on each product page before choosing.
What comes in the box?
The figures, a display card, a certificate of authenticity, and care and storage instructions.
Can I add to my set later?
Yes, and it is designed that way. The Holy Family, Kings Following the Star, Shepherds and Angel, Animals and Lighted Stable are sold separately within each scale, so a collection can be built one Christmas at a time. Stay within one scale so the figures sit correctly together.
Can I mix scales?
We do not recommend it. A 10-inch shepherd standing beside a 14-inch king reads as an error rather than as perspective.
How should I clean and store the set?
Dust with a soft dry brush or a clean makeup brush. Do not use water, solvents or commercial cleaners on hand-painted surfaces. Wrap each figure separately in acid-free tissue and store in the original box, away from attic heat and basement damp. Care and storage instructions come with every set.
Can the indoor set go outside?
No. The indoor Real Life Nativity is hand-painted resin and is not weather-rated. The Real Life Outdoor Nativity is a separate line, made of metal with a durable anti-rust coating and printed with fade-resistant, high-resolution paint.
What is the outdoor set made of?
Flat-folding metal, printed with high-resolution, fade-resistant paint, coated on 100 percent of the metal surface against rust, with three-pronged ground stakes. It folds flat for storage.
A piece broke. Do I have to replace the whole set?
No. Individual figures and replacement parts are available across the range. Find your replacement here.
Are these safe around children?
The main collection is a display piece and is not intended as a toy. For children, the Children's Nativity is a twelve-piece set in solid wood with 3-inch figures, made to be handled.
